Fire and EMS Training

In an effort to continue to provide quality training to our Agencies we serve, and expand our training to meet the needs of localities, we have expanded on a "partnership."

Crater Criminal Justice Training Academy has long hosted classes for local Fire and EMS departments, things like CPR, and EMT.

We have recently expanded that relationship.  We have hosted several events and will continue to work on these and additional events in the future.  In addition to local Fire and EMS Agencies, Crater is also forging partnerships with local Hospitals and Community groups; this again will help to provide new and unique training opportunities.

The Academy moved into its new home in it's 30th year of operation in the fall of 2005.  This new facility is 13,500 square feet with new state of the art classrooms, and administrative space, and will provide a home for the Academy for the foreseeable future.    The academy is located on a 120-acre parcel of land, and includes a firing range on site.  The property is in Prince George County adjacent to the Petersburg City Jail Farm-Annex, and the Crater Youth Detention Center. All of this classroom space as well as outside training areas is an ideal place for Fire and EMS training, both now and as we look to the future for expansion.

This relationship between the Academy and Fire and EMS professionals benefits the Academy in several ways.  One of these ways is providing instruction in needed areas such as CPR, AED, NIMS/ICS, Fire Marshall "overview", Hazardous Materials Awareness, and much more.  This instruction helps to ease the load that our member agencies have to provide for classes here.

This collaboration also allows FIRE/EMS professionals to work with other Law Enforcement professionals in a "training environment", this only helps in collaboration when these agencies have to work together in situations in the community.

If you would like to register for any of these courses, please email us at FireandEmsTraining@ccja.org

You may also find information on most of these classes on our Training page, on the Training Grid, these classes are highlighted in RED.

Most of these classes are free and open to the Public (public being Fire and EMS personnel)
